Come Sail on the Largest Ship on the Sea! The next Poker Player cruise is scheduled to set sail on February 18-25, 2012 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the Western Caribbean aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. Our first port is Labadee, Haiti, a private resort leased to Royal Caribbean for use only by their passengers. Labadee is an exception to most of Haiti, it’s fenced off and guarded to insure safety. The only locals at the resort are vendors. The resort is surrounded by beautiful mountain slopes and exotic foliage offering pristine beaches and spectacular water activities. The resort boasts seven neighborhoods: Buccaneers’ Bay, Dragon’s Plaza, Labadee Town Square, Adrenaline Beach, Columbus Cove, Nellie’s Beach and Barefoot Beach Club. The second port is Falmouth, Jamaica where visitors can enjoy 19th-century Georgian architecture as well as river bamboo raft rides, arts and crafts shopping, flavorful local fare and horse-and-buggy rides through town. Just east of Falmouth is Ocho Rios, best known for its spectacular Dunn’s River Falls. Travel west to reach Montego Bay and the beautiful beaches of Negril, a two-hour drive from Falmouth. Thanks to its central location, Falmouth gives visitors the best tour experiences of the north coast of Jamaica. Royal Caribbean is working with the Port Authority of Jamaica on a multi-phased plan to develop historic Falmouth into one of the premier, modern ports of call in the Caribbean. Visitors to Falmouth will be among the first to experience the revitalization. The first phase of development, which is nearing completion, includes a two-berth pier, retail and restaurant services and a transportation center. Subsequent phases will include onsite attractions and experiences, hotel and residential components and additional retail and restaurant options. Our last port before sailing back to Ft. Lauderdale will be Cozomel, Mexico, one of the best snorkeling areas in the world. For those of you that like to explore you won’t be disappointed in the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Tulum which perched above the turquoise Caribbean. You shoppers will enjoy seeking out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel.
